A disappointing second place

By Huw Jones

No2We were delighted – but also a little disappointed – to be recognised at a major industry event earlier in October, with a second place finish in the David Norton Building Excellence Award.  The award is given to an outstanding financial planning firm and it is awarded during the course of The IFP Conference, one of the industry’s top events.

After several months of having everything about the business scrutinised – from the reports we provide our clients with, to our future plans – we were rewarded by the IFP when they named us as being one of just two firms in the running for the award.

Stephen Gazzard, Chief Executive of the IFP – and one of the three judges on the panel – said: “We received first time entries from around the country but 2013 runners up Old Mill and Proposito rose to the top of the pile after working on the areas of feedback from the judges last year”.

As the award is given on a national basis, and as we know there were a huge number of firms who applied, we probably should be happy with second place, but…

We have always been a firm that strives to be the best at everything we do and so, although we were very grateful for the recognition, we’ll be redoubling our efforts to maintain momentum on our journey of continual improvement. Hopefully we’ll have some good news on this front before Christmas.

In the meantime, the experience was another great one for us and to have our processes, service, client interaction and communication be so highly rated by the IFP is a real honour for us. Thank you to all of our clients for continuing to help us to grow and develop how we work – roll on next year!
