Our story so far and where we’re heading …

By Proposito Team

As you’ll have read in last month’s blog, Richard left the business at the end of 2015 to enjoy a well-earned retirement. He’s putting into practice all his financial planning advice over the years and taking time to fulfil those lifelong ambitions. We thought we would provide those who may not know, an overview of how we have got to where we are today and what our plans are for the future.

The business was initially set up in 1998 and was known as Richard Witcombe Financial Advisory Services, based just outside Cardiff in the Vale of Glamorgan. The firm was joined by Richard’s son, Huw in 1999.

Our move to Malmesbury came in 2006 and at the start of 2011, we rebranded and changed our name to Proposito Financial Planning. Why Proposito, I hear you cry? Well, those Classics scholars among you will know it means intention, aim or purpose in Latin and so we felt it was a good fit for the forward thinking, professional financial planning and investment advice we offer.

In that time, we have seen many changes in the world, both within the financial world but also in the wider world. We are proud of that fact that the values at the heart of our business remain exactly the same and will continue to do so. Our clients have always been right at the centre of what we do and we only ever do something because we believe it will be best for the client.

We were delighted to welcome Russ Haworth, a Chartered Financial Planner, to the team in July last year. Like Huw, he helps clients find an effective way to manage their finances while business development also falls under his remit.

So here we are in 2016 with five staff. What does the future hold? Inevitably, at the moment we are going through a certain amount of transition. Richard had worked with many of his clients for a considerable number of years. Things may feel a little different but we want to reassure you that the essentials have not changed at all. We are still here providing high quality professional financial planning, which helps people live the lifestyle they aspire to.

We hope to continue to grow the business, while at the same time always retaining our identity and our focus on providing you with the best possible service.

Keeping in tune with the meaning of Proposito – these are our aims and intentions. The future looks exciting – we’re looking forward to experiencing it with you.
