Market summaryThe FTSE All Share index, representing the performance of all eligible companies (currently about 630) listed on the London Stock Exchange has finished the week at 3,104.23 down 16.90 points on the day and 4.54 higher than the start of the week.

This week the FTSE All Share index, which accounts for approximately 98% of the UK’s market capitalisation, set a new 52-week high during Thursday’s trading session when it reached 3,155.

Over the last 12 months the index is up 9.72%.

CPI annual inflation – the Government’s target measure – was 3.3 per cent in November, up from 3.2 per cent in October.  In the year to November, RPI annual inflation was 4.7 per cent, up from 4.5 per cent in October.

Bank of England base rate is currently set at 0.5% and has been at this level since a reduction from 1.00% on 5th March 2009

The pound is currently trading at $1.5445 and €1.2025
