Hello

On this page you’ll find everything you need to understand what we do, who we help and what it might cost. There's a bit about a what to do next and a brief history of Proposito. You can also hear what our existing clients have to say about us. Finally there's a contact form for you to get in touch or ask us any questions. We hope that you find this useful.

What we do

We’re award winning Chartered Financial Planners and we do all the pension, investment and financial stuff you’d expect. But initially our focus is helping you to understand what the essential elements of a fulfilled life are. This helps you create a priority order so you can focus your time and energy on doing first things first.

Once you understand where you want to go, we’ll know how to structure your finances to get the right money coming on stream at the right time, for everything you want to get done in the time you’ve got left. At Proposito it’s always people before products.

Our structured process is called LifePath and it’s split into FOUR distinct stages:

LifePath Define

LifePath Design is the starting point for everyone we work with. It’s where we we help you work out exactly what a fulfilling life looks like. This is an essential first step and help you identify the most essential element of a fulfilled life for you. When you don’t know your destination any road will lead you there.

LifePath Design

Once we've identified your lifestyle and financial objectives, we will create a picture of your current financial situation. We present our recommendations for how you can achieve your financial and life goals.

LifePath Align

This stage is all about making sure your money is aligned to your goals. We will make sure you have the right money coming on stream at the right time, for everything you need to get done in the time you’ve got left. This part of the service is regulated financial advice and is often highly technical.

LifePath Refine

As life is a journey not a destination our financial planning service embraces this. During our annual forward planning meetings we will refine your plan as your circumstances and finances change . The real value in financial planning does not come from the initial financial plan but from the incremental improvements compounded over time.

Who we help

We’ve been retirement specialists for a while now. During our time of helping people retire successfully we’ve managed to identify three distinct areas where we can add significant value:

High Earners

You have a significant income and are looking to make the most tax efficient provision for your retirement - which may be quite some time into the future.

Serious Planners

You're looking to stop work in the next 5-10 years. Now is the time for some serious retirement planning.

Set to retire

You’ve got all the funds you need for retirement and are looking to “pull the trigger” on taking your retirement income in the next year or two.

However, as we operate on a fixed-fee basis, we are not limited to who we work with.

If you aren’t sure, then we’re more than happy to talk this through with you.

We the real value of financial planning comes from the incremental improvements to the original plan, compounded over time. Therefore, when we agree to work with you, it’s on the presumption of us providing regular ongoing financial planning advice – as this is where the real value lies. We don’t operate on a one-off, transactional basis.  Instead, we go on a journey with you to help you achieve your goals.

Sometimes peoples finances are quite complex. If this is you, then we may work with you to identify the most pressing issues to address and prioritise those first. Less important items can be tackled at a later date.

How much does it cost?

First Meeting

Our first meeting is at our expense and without obligation. You will not need to pay anything for this meeting or commit to moving things forward. It is an opportunity for us to explore your current circumstances and the areas you want to improve by working with us. We’ll also be able to explain a bit about what we do and how we do it.

At the end of this meeting we will quote you an initial fee and confirm this is writing in a Letter of Engagement, which you will need sign in order to move things forward.

Our fees are based on the complexity of your situation.  We publish a full breakdown of our fees and their explanations on out website HERE.

As an example, our initial fees for our a typical moderately complex LifePath client would be £4,575 with on-going fees from £300pm.

A bit of background

Proposito Financial Planning was originally known as Richard Witcombe Financial Advisory Services, founded in 1998 by Richard Witcombe and based just outside Cardiff.

Richard was joined by his son, our principal Financial Planner Huw Jones, in 1999.

We relocated to Malmesbury, Wiltshire in 2006. Sarah Egan then joined us in 2008.

In 2011, we re-branded, changing our name to Proposito Financial Planning, in preparation for Richard’s retirement at the end of 2015.

Jade Shelton then joined us in 2018 and we re-located to our current office in 2019.

In 2022 Anne joined us in the role of Administrator, taking over the admin from Jade who is now a Financial Planner.

The word Proposito has its origins in Latin and means intention, aim or purpose. We believe this reflects the services we provide to our clients: financial planning that is purposeful and intentional, with their goals and best interests at heart.
