Good Luck Claire!
As some of you will be aware Claire is leaving us at the end of the month to head off to University.
We thought we would find out a bit more about her time with us and what she is going off to do.
We have really enjoyed having Claire with us for the last year, she has bought enthusiasm to the role and has been a real pleasure to work with. Plus, she makes great cakes! We will of course miss her personality around the office (but we’ll mostly miss the cakes!)
So Claire, where are you off to?
The University of Essex in Colchester to read Law. I would like to have a career in law, I believe it affects everything and everyone and I find that really exciting. I have an inquisitive mind and law has so many elements to it that it should keep me busy.
Have you enjoyed your time with Proposito?
I have loved it, it was a big change from school, where you are surrounded by your peers. It was a bit intimidating on my first day to think that I was going to work with ‘grown ups’ in a proper business but you were all so welcoming and the office now feels like a second home.
I feel I would be welcome back at any time and it not feel weird.
It is a completely different environment to school but there were so many things I enjoyed about the work.
What has been your favourite experience here?
I would probably say it is the times that we all spend together at our weekly team meetings or the quarterly and annual team meetings. The feeling of camaraderie is great and the fact that everyone gets on so well means that coming to work is fun. There is a great atmosphere in the office and that is reflected in our work.
One particular memory is of us all playing Scrabble at our annual meeting and the go karting and Christmas lunch.
What do you think you will take away from your time here?
I am hoping to take some pens and other stationery!
I meant in a personal growth way!!?
Oh, I see. Awkward!
OK, I would say that personally I have grown in confidence, my ability to communicate has improved a lot and I really enjoy speaking with clients on the phone, they are all really nice.
I also think that I am now able to manage my time better. When you are at school you are told what to do and when by teachers and it is very regimented.
Coming into the work place I have had to learn that I have to manage my own time and despite being the youngest and newest member of the team I was given responsibilities that meant I had to use my initiative.
Being so well supported has given me the confidence to use my initiative and I feel that I have been given the opportunity to make a difference within the business and have made some real friendships.
What is your legacy?
Definitely my elastic band ball. I have grown this from nothing to something that is now bigger than a tennis ball, I hope someone will carry on my legacy when I leave.
I have also introduced some new processes into the business and I am leaving you with a perfect stationery system.
I would also have to say my cakes.
What has been the most surprising element of working here?
I am most surprised by how much I have enjoyed working here. I thought that working in finance would be boring but I have found everything really exciting.
Every day is different and I am never bored.
I have been treated with respect and this made a daunting experience into a really fun experience.
What has been the worst part of working here?
No more lie in’s!
Will you come back and see us?
Absolutely, I know I would be welcomed back. When I get some time off from Uni, I would love to come back and visit. I can bring you all some cake!
