This year we have again decided to make a donation to charity rather than send out Christmas cards. For the second year running we have chosen to support a local cause with a festive feel. Charlton Lights is the passion of local resident Michaela Swadling-Stickler, who has made it her mission to put on a superb christmas light show every year to raise money for Epilepsy Research UK. Since losing her father to epilepsy in 2009 Michelle has adorned her house and garden in the village of Charlton. The display, made up of tens of thousands of lights, has practically tripled in size over the last few years. It takes over six weeks for Michaela to get ready; even with the help of three electricians working full time for a week. But the hard work is paying off – the display attracts visitors from across the county with many more choosing to donate online.
