Market numbersThe FTSE All Share index, representing the performance of all 625 eligible companies listed on the London Stock Exchange has finished the week on Friday at 3,109.26, a slight drop of 3.46 points on the day and 0.01 points lower than its 3,109.27 opening value at the start of the week.

So far this year the FTSE All Share index, which accounts for approximately 98% of the UK’s market capitalisation, has risen 46.41 (1.52%) from its’ opening price of 3062.85 at the start of trading on 4th January 2011.

The FTSE All-Share Index is considered to be the best performance measure of the overall London equity market. The average daily trading volume is 124.99 million shares with a little over 116.34 million shares changing hands on Friday.
