Market numbersThe FTSE All Share index, representing the performance of all eligible companies listed on the London Stock Exchange has finished the week at2,727.18, a fall of 75.33 points on the day and 298.52 points (9.87%) lower than its 3,025.70 opening value at the start of the week.

So far this year the FTSE All Share index, which accounts for approximately 98% of the UK’s market capitalisation, has gone down 335.67 points (10.96%) from its’ opening price of 3062.85 at the start of trading on 4th January 2011.

This volatility is a result of the financial uncertainty sweeping the world’s economies and will remain until the situation stabilises.
